completely loved your pictures... the b/w ones are incredible, and the color ones really capture the eye's attention... i wouldve posted comments on every entry, but you'd tire of me continually typing (with utter amazement): AWESOME PICS!!
incredible blog. i'll keep checking back. thanks for sharing your talent. luv the daily life scenes!
Hey there -plain, Glad you're enjoying the site... I do encourage you to study the pictures and point out what you think is lacking and so forth...hope to see ya around!
Nice to see you move from one off shots to attempting a 'thematic'.
My first impulse is that images top and middle have a strong sense of space [between foreground and background]. They're successful and work excellently in that regard. With the third image it was sudden spatial collapse and I got slightly confused.
And for the life of me I can't figure out why "Winter 2006" is not centered and doubled letter spaced ala title too.
From the beginning I hadn't an idea to put out what you are now looking at. All I had were three shots, both not exactly what I had in mind in portraying Flagstaff gardens. Though I knew each of them possessed something I enjoyed about the garden. I then brought that, together with the idea of "seeing details of the subject- rather than the subject itself" to come up with the following collage/poster. The fact that it gave you the sense of space was truly coeincidental(sp?) yet true.
You don't need to justify yourself. Just take it as another point of view.
If you want your piece to be ambiguous, the more interpretations the better.
If you want to be precise, it's the opposite.
On that note, if you want to be precise about "seeing details of the subject - rather than the subject itself", imho the piece is unfortunately even less successful.
